About the role
German students tend to arrive with a specific, concrete plan. A place at a German university and a Studienkolleg to get through. An Ausbildung contract that requires B1 before the visa appointment. A family reunification file with a language condition attached. They are not learning German for pleasure, and they usually have a deadline.
That shapes how the course runs. You'll teach A1 through B2 with Goethe-Zertifikat preparation built into the structure rather than bolted on at the end, and you'll spend real time on the parts that block people — cases, word order, and the Sprechen section that students consistently underestimate.
The role starts part-time, around twelve to sixteen contact hours a week, mostly evenings with a Saturday group. We expect it to grow into a full-time position as the programme establishes itself.
You should also know that students will ask you about visas, Studienkollegs and blocked accounts. You are not expected to be an advisor — but knowing roughly how the pathway works makes you far more useful to them, and we'll support you on the parts you don't know.
What we're looking for
— A degree in German language, literature or translation, or a Goethe-Zertifikat at C1 level — At least one year teaching German, or strong teaching experience in another language — C1 German or above — Fluent Arabic or French for the A1 and A2 groups — Working knowledge of the Goethe-Zertifikat exam format from A1 to B2
Nice to have: — Experience preparing students for TestDaF or DSH — Practical understanding of the Studienkolleg and Ausbildung routes into Germany — Time spent studying, working or living in a German-speaking country
